I know we are halfway through the month but here's it just for the craic!

    Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)
Making and/or spending money continues to be your mantra until the last week of April. For some of you, it can be a good idea to get some professional help with your finances. Or how about acting on your god given talents! If you haven't the slightest clue what they are, do something about it. The energy you exert on your personal resources would blossom towards the end of the month. In the last week, your intellectual energy might be diverted into interaction with others, studies or your local neighbourhood. Watch out for the urge to talk incessantly!

    Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21)
You continue to value your own personal time this month. Now might be a good time to reflect on any unconscious behaviours that affect your (lack of) relationships. From mid-April, you might want to watch out for the effect of your daily work routine on your health. Towards the end of the month, why not pamper yourself and give your body the royal treatment so that you can look good and feel good.

    Gemini (May 22 - Jun 21)
There are people in our lives that we admire and/or view with disdain. Why is it about them that you like or dislike? Perhaps those are the traits that you might seek to uncover within yourself. Towards the middle of the month: an insight or revelation about your children might strike you for the parents out there; for those who are actively seeking romance, it's time to reap the harvest of your (lack of) effort; or you might be at the peak of your self-expression. In the last week of April, set up an appointment with yourself to review how you are getting on with your life's aspirations, group involvements and your friends.

Cancer (Jun 22 to Jul 22)
How you have been treating your body for the past two weeks culminates towards the middle of the month. Listen to your body and treat it with respect. You might have to exercise some discipline and judgement when it comes to your health this month. Towards the end of the month, it's a brand new start for you. It's time to start planting some seeds.

Leo (Jul 23 to Aug 23)
For the first three week in April, why not focus your attention on expanding the horizons of your mind? There are literally infinite ways to do so - go on a holiday, sign up for a course, go to church during the Easter weekend, try a new ethic restaurant or talk to your colleague from a different culture. The boundaries are only limited by your imagination! For some of you, ask yourself whether you practise what you preach. Are your beliefs and philosophy to life consistent with your purpose in life or where you are heading towards?

For the last week in April, it might be a good idea to shift your attention shifts to work matters. Seek recognition where you deserve it. Carry yourself with dignity and proudly, no matter your role at work. Others might pick up on your royal vibes. Something new at work might land on your feet late April.

Virgo (Aug 24 to Sep 22)
Your initial positive and cheery thoughts might morph into more reflective ones, especially about your beliefs on work accomplishments in the second and the third week of the month. Financial matters may occupy your mind mid-month onwards. In the last week, you might cast your thoughts on any buried emotions within you that surface if you allow them to. Use your intuition to discriminate who you can share those emotions with.

Libra (Sep 23 to Oct 23)
Just as you look forward to spending time with your (future) someone special, your work or health may absorb your energies. This might continue until the middle of the month where it's clear where you stand in terms of your work/health. Starting from the end of this month: for those with a significant other, here's a gentle reminder to express your affections for him/her; for those who's on the lookout for love, it's time to step up your efforts.

Scorpio (Oct 24 to Nov 22)
You continue to direct those aggressive or assertive energies of yours into energetic love making with your significant other. For those less-inclined towards passion, you might feel a drive to fight for or protect him/her instead. Direct your energies wisely otherwise you might quibble over minor stuff instead. Financial matters tend to occupy your mind mid-month. In the last week of April, you change gears from relationships to a transformation of your financial position perhaps by doing some research or digging around.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 to Dec 21)
Each one of us has an unique definition of friends and friendship. This month is a good time to look within ourselves and examine what a friend means to us personally. Towards mid-April, insights on (one of your) friends and romance might illuminate you with an Eureka! moment. At the end of the month, you can look forward to a renewed situation at work or your health.

Capricorn (Dec 22 to Jan 20)
This might be a time to face your hidden fears about those parts of you or your recent past that you have been trying to push away from your consciousness. Look at them in the eye and restructure them - it's part of your responsibility and duty to do so, in the name of being/becoming an adult. Towards mid-April, your work situation climaxes. If you have been waiting for an outcome or a situation to cease, this might the time when it finally happens.

Aquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 18)
You may feel a sense of seriousness and responsibility or duty towards groups that you participate in and perhaps even towards your friends. This could cause you to withdraw from certain social involvements. Memories of your past associations might visit you. It may be worthwhile to rekindle such associations if it's realistic for you to do so.

Pisces (Feb 19 to Mar 20)
Now is a good time to think about your financial future, especially on the big-ticket items. Reduce your debts whenever possible as they chip away at your resources, unless your accountant advises you otherwise. Start saving for rainy days if you haven't already done so. A few pennies do make the difference in the long run. Towards mid-April, the state of your financial affairs might tug at the fringes of your consciousness. Come end of the month, your interactions with others and your daily thoughts start off with a blank slate. How exciting!

    What about Ophiuchus?

Can't post the URL of some articles. But here's one:

Ophiuchus - the 13th Sign of the Zodiac? by Dieter Koch

Every few years we hear the same old news from critics of astrology, mostly astronomers and physicists who know nothing about astrology.

They argue that the signs of the zodiac used by astrologers do not correspond to the actual constellations of stars on the sky. They say that the real star constellations have been shifting relative to the astrological signs by nearly one month in the course of the last 2000 years. They explain this with the so-called precession of the equinoxes.

In addition, they claim that astrologers suppress a 13th constellation, the Serpent Bearer (Ophiuchus), despite the fact that the Sun passes each year through this constellation.

These statements are true in a certain sense. But they are based on naïve and incorrect assumptions about the essence and history of astrology, and therefore they miss the target. Those who argue against astrology that way may well understand a bit about astronomy. But they are incompetent regarding astrology and have not done their homework. They speak in the media about something they have never studied.

Ptolemy was fully aware of precession
Claudius PtolemyAlready in the second century C.E. the astrologer and astronomer Ptolemy was fully aware of precession and the issues mentioned above. He knew that the equinoctial points were slowly shifting in relations to the star constellations – by about 1° in the course of a human life span of 72 years (Ptolemy, Almagest VII.2.f). Still, he decided to give up star constellations and to let the zodiac begin with 0° Aries at the spring equinoctial point (Ptolemy, Tetrabiblos 1.10f). Why? He did this in the opinions that the actual constellations of fixed stars were not relevant for astrology, that the sun signs should be fixed at the cardinal points of the Sun's annual path. Aries begins at the spring equinox, Cancer at the summer solstice, Libra at the autumn equinox and Capricorn at the winter solstice.

Ptolemy's decision was only logical because astrologers had always considered sun signs to be related to the seasons. In ancient Mesopotamia around 2000 B.C.E. the appearance of the Libra stars immediately before sunrise in fitting symbolism indicated the autumn equinox (as documented by cuneiform text Mul.apin I iii 1-2). 1000 years later, when this rule did not work anymore due to the shifting of the equinoxes by precession, the beginning of autumn was redefined as the entry of the Sun into Libra.

Sun signs vers. fixed star constellations
Modern astrology has remained true to this old tradition. It does not consider constellations of the fixed stars, but divides the zodiac in correspondence to the cardinal points of the seasons. The actual star constellations in the sky are astrologically irrelevant. One must never equate Sun signs (signs of the zodiac) with fixed star constellations. Fixed star constellations are configurations of stars visible in the sky, sun signs however cannot be seen in the sky. They are mathematical divisions of the annual path of the Sun in the sky, of precisely 30° size for each of the 12 parts.

ZodiacIf astronomers claim that astrology cannot be true because it does not use the actual star constellations, they claim this in the mistaken belief that astrologers have forgotten where the fixed star constellations are. In fact, every astrologer knows they are different from the astrological zodiac signs. The historical truth few are concerned with lies in the fact that the fixed star constellations received their names from the seasons and from the annual rhythm of the Sun's movement, not the other way around. Where the constellations are found nowadays in the sky is simply irrelevant. The astrologer is only interested in the sun signs, based on the seasons.

Now what about Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer? Because this is also – only – a fixed star constellation, it has no astrological relevance. The Sun passes through it nowadays between 29 november and 17 december, which falls into the astrological sign of Sagittarius.
