    Hi All,

Looking for recommendations for someone to come out to our home preferably (Donabate in north county Dublin) to give some dog behavioural advice.

We have 2 shih tzus- a 15 month old and a 6 year old. They are great little dogs- very little issue with them- but I'm due to have a baby in the next 7-8 weeks. We've already stopped them sleeping and generally coming upstairs (the odd Sunday lie in cuddles) and they have adjusted well. People tell us we should stop them jumping on the couches too but while I like the idea from a hygiene perspective I also completely regard them as part of our family and want them to be comfortable and happy. We've had suggestions (unsolicited!) of them getting a kennel and becoming outside dogs but that's just not a runner!

Anyway main concerns I want help with are- the puppy keeps eating her own poo. She's much better now and almost always does it outside but sometimes brings some back in to eat and then drops little balls of it randomly around the place. This is by far my biggest concern with the baby.

Secondly they can go mental barking sometimes- they sit looking out the window and go mad if there's a dog outside or anything. I'm less concerned about that- but if there was a magic cure that'd be great!

Anyway would love to chat through some ideas with an expert and look to implement them over the next few weeks- if anyone has recommendations of who to call that would be great!

    Thanks!

Thumpette google maureen Byrne or suzi Walsh. With both you can get money back from Allianz with a vet referral.

Emmaline from http://www.citizencanineireland.com is very good. I've had her come out and help with a few issues and have recommended her to friends too who found her very good.

Thanks so much everyone! It's mad how people just assume that you should ditch the doggies. Will look into those people x

Your baby will be less likely to have asthma if you have indoor dogs. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26523822 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18538018

Hence why I never got the 'put them outside in a kennel' thing. I mean, obviously, never leave a child and dog together.

While this is true, this is not the reason why I wouldn't put the dog outside.
I wouldn't put him outside, because thats not where he lives, thats not is home.
But it is a good arguement for crazy people who think that they should be just shoved outside.
