Mayo County Council Jobs (Arts)

Hi, I've recently applied for a few jobs within the Mayo County Council for care of arts and outreach etc. I'm just wondering what's up in terms of being successful, but also the chances of working for Mayo County Council. I worked for the local authority in the UK and have a Masters in the areas they are looking for (one of the jobs I think I'm overly qualified for) but I seem to have zero luck in secure any arts jobs in Ireland. Anyone out there struggling as well?? For example, I applied for a tour guide position at a local museum and didn't get a call back. It's not a CV problem since colleagues of mine have smilier CV (style wise etc) and have secured jobs. Once at interview stage I normally always lock the job down, but still any advice/help?

Those jobs are hard to get into especially if it is for a singular position and does not need a large panel, unfortunately in a lot of cases it's who you know, not what you know .
