I'm looking to get away in early-mid June, we have two young kids (2.5 toddler and 3month infant) so we're taking one set of grandparents to help us out.

Toddler needs a pool, preferably heated and a beach would be nice. Grandparents need to be able to walk to a town or village (~10minutes and preferably with footpaths and view?) just for general wandering around shops and we'd like to be able to have our evening meal out with a choice of restaurants. I'm the only one who drinks and will be doing very little of that so night life is not something we need, we'll all be in bed by ten!

Spain, Portugal or France for the quick flights and something luxurious but that can come in under 4k for the week for flights and accommodation.

Don't mind if it's a villa, not keen on large apartment complexes and wouldn't mind a hotel/aparthotel but by the time you get a family room and a double room prices sky rocket!

I've looked on airbnb but haven't been successful, mostly because I don't know a lot of the areas and I'm a bit hesitant to book somewhere that doesn't give exact locations.

If anyone has a secret escape they use please pm. I know of one or two in Italy from our prechildren days but between 4 hour flights and 1-2 hours drive on the other side it just doesn't suit.

have you tried looking at camping holidays? they offer very affordable accommodation across france/italy. A lot of campsites across these countries offer what you're looking for, and it isn't just tents! have you thought about a mobile home/wooden lodge? have a look at eurocamp, canvas, kelair and vacansoleil!

Your time too of early-mid June might just be a fair bit cheaper as the schools are still on.

I'm not sure I'd be able to sell that one to the folks. I reckon we'll be heading on them in a few years when the kids get a bit older and will be off playing for most of the day. At the minute we'd prob fancy keeping to ourselves, relax by a quiet pool and enjoy good food. Although that may be the inner snob in me coming out. I'll google a bit.

Flights to Spain/Portugal coming in around 850-1000 for all of us at the min which isn't bad (we're very flexible with dates which helps)

    Thanks for replies!

    Have you considered Malta?

Hadn't really, I was trying to keep flight time to a minimum whilst still getting some sun in. 2-3 hour bracket.. I'm beginning to think I'm sounding a bit fussy!

Roses in Spain on the costa brava.
Been there 3 times , stayed at hotel mediterraneo each time.
    Wasn't overly expensive.
Check prices on booking.com and then ring to book, they usually threw in half board and wine for free.
Nice hotel, nice food , has a an enclosed outdoor area with 2 pools out the back big one and a toddler pool, outside hut with bar and food.
Nice indoor bar area too, never busy when I was there.
Mostly older generation on bus tours staying there, so they tend to be gone all day and you nearly have the pools to yourselves bar a few other couples with kids.
    Perfect for kids,
Little outdoor play place across the road for kids that opens every evening and it's like 2 euro in for as long as you like.

Lovely town, pretty quiet with regards to not being a party place.
Massive beach with long promenade and a nice little shops and stuff.

It's close enough to Girona, I'm not sure how to travel from there as I always drove down there.
Barcelona is an hour and a half away if you fancied a day trip.

Perfect place for a quiet getaway and doesn't seem too popular as anybody I told about it never heard of it.

Have a look at Domaine Juan Flore, it's in Juan Les Pins, half an hour from Nice, 5mins walk to beach, cheap reliable bus service to Cannes in ten minutes, the same in the other direction to Antibes, we've had a couple of nice holidays there, lovely complex, nice pool area suitable for the youngsters, the accommodation can be expensive though but you can get 2 & 3 bed units

Port de Soller in Mallorca might also be worth taking a look at. We are regular visitors.Beautiful fishing village with a lovely walk right around the bay. Lovely in the evening when the day trippers have gone! Nice choice of places to eat. There is a decent beach ( not the best on the island, sand is brought in) but our 2 year old wasn't complaining. To be honest she preferred looking at the boats in the marina. There are also two playgrounds in the town and your 2.5 year old would love the old tram that runs to Soller.
Will pm you a link to a property which is on the next street to where we usually stay. It is a great location, 5 min from the sea front, 2 min from a playground and the bus stop for Palma & Valdamossa.
Really nice walks from your doorstep which might appeal to the Grandparents ...and it's a lovely place to wheel a baby.

OP have you gone into a travel agents and sat down with them? I wouldn't have really used them before but did last year for the first time. Wanted to book a weeks holiday for a couple with stuff to do but not club central and preferably a hotel with not too many kids. They were brilliant at directing us to exactly what we asked for & have booked through them again this year.

I know possibly outside the flight time you're looking by a little bit but we went to Pefkos which is on Rhodes Island in Greece. Lovely little town & lots of hotels within that 10 min walk to the town. Easy access to other towns with a bus service too. Hotels there were more aparthotels and yes were like a little village at times but actually was lovely. Beach as well as pools there.

What about Torrevieja. Nice beaches, plenty of nice restaurants down around the harbour. Music and nightlife if you want to find it is available, so too are quiet places to just relax.
You could easily rent a villa for the week there as well.

Flights into alicante work out at €137 from the 9th to the 16th of June.
Leaves plenty to spend on accomodation

Another vote here for Majorca, the Soller area is lovely. Also consider the outskirts of Palma. We stayed there two years ago and it was about 15 mins on bus to Palma and lots of restaurants around the seafront. There was also a big shopping centre nearby with restaurants, it was called Porto Pi. I wouldn't recommend my hotel for you as it was up a hill which wouldn't really suit with kids and grandparents I think, but it's a nice area.
