Charge Point in car space away from house.

I'm looking into getting an EV in the near future but I've a problem with where I live.

I live in a terraced house that opens up onto a footpath and in front of that path there is dedicated car spaces for each house, mine is bit down from the front of our house.

Will ESB install a charge point? Will I need any planning permission? or will it not work altogether?

    Thanks!

Typically, they will not install it in townhouses. It has to be on your house and be capable of been connected to the car without any health, safety or liability issues.

It's the reason I have no charge point currently, and only will once I move into my new house (currently renovating).

    That's what I thought! Thanks :)

Is it a managed estate or council controlled?

I'm in a similar situation and have convinced the mgmt. company to allow a kerbside install with the cable ran under the pavement.
It's taken around 4 months to get all the ducks in order.

Somebody else has posted in the past re Dublin City Council allowing something similar.

Council controlled, so I might have some luck! Did it cost much for your install?

Sorry, if it was Dublin I could have asked them who you need to talk to.

How far is a "bit down"?

Bear in mind the cable has to go from your distribution board in your house to the car space. If it has to cross a neighbors lawn you can forget it.

Also, unless you buy new, the ESB don't install it. You have to organise your own contractor if you buy a 2nd hand EV.

And ESB are almost out of the "free" ones. Though it's not that expensive...

Just seen on FB, Nigel Dalyis currently installing a kerb side charger in Rathcoole. Might be worth calling him for advice.

Hey, any chance you can post a picture of the kerb side charger? I may end up installing a such charger.
