Anyone watched this? I found how companies can market foods and treats and fluff what's really in them interesting and alarming at the same time. It's biased towards raw feeding which I know some posters are touchy about... but kind of refreshing as a raw feeder as the vets on it have jumped outside the Hills/RC box. Also interesting how the big companies are doing a u-turn and going with what consumers want when they rubbished say cereal free food in the past.

What big companies are going cereal free?

Do you not think though that if they are changing to what you say consumers want, then that isn't in the best interests of the dogs, and it is purely all about marketing and pushing sales? Which, if a company truly believed what they were producing was good food, but it wasn't selling as well as it did because of consumer's opinions, is a bad thing? If the science says one thing, but sales say another, I personally think its a real shame if sales win.

I haven't seen the programme btw, my internet connection allows some netflix viewing, but I'm not on a regular on it anymore

Hills and Purina. The whole thing was about marketing and what was best for sales. So they had Purina/Hills at one stage saying dogs are omnivores and need grains... but now produce grain free varieties themselves because it'll sell. Very interesting how it's all goverened in the States at least.

Yeah, you see, I don't like that. if the grain free were marketed at dogs that may have intolerances, then fair enough.

I remember years ago buying a dry food for my dogs because it had pasta in it, I thought it must be good for them then :P

I'd love to know who it was that came up with the grain free concept though, and how it gained legs the way it has.

I had my dogs on grain free long, long before it became a *thing* :o

Sorry no... I was speaking generally. As far as I can see, grain free kibble first appeared for dogs with dietary problems.

I just watched the trailer - not sure if I could watch the entire thing if it's all like that! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eVoicSHimI :D

The haunting music and melodrama remind me of an 80's horror movie... I was sure a zombie was about to leap from the dog food bag!

Well the guy who's saying 'companies don't care about me' - his dog died from eating a brand of treats which del monte tried to get customers to sign NDA's about with a sweetener of $100 so I'd forgive him for being dramatic.

I'm not talking about him personally. I'm talking about the style of the film making - the first 30 seconds of this is more subtle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXtb3OXfLjw And that's a video titled "Best Horror Halloween Movies".

I've not seen the full movie though, I'm just saying that the style of the trailer puts me off.
