Have a few days off in a couple of weeks and thinking of a city break. Found reasonsible flights to Porto from Dublin
Will be travelling solo, any recommendations re accomodation and eating out.
As im travelling solo im more after a sightseeing cultural trip rather than looking for somewhere with a good night life

There's literally loads of places. AirBnB for one. It's best to stay on the Porto side (Gaia is actually a separate city, where the port caves are). There, you should consider staying in the newer part of the city, which is higher up, and stay central. Just so you don't do too much walking, as the city is very hilly. There are some nice enough neighbourhoods up and out from Bolhao market.

It's a very walkable city. And quite spread out. E.g. Serralves art gallery and park is well worth visiting, as it the beach out near Matosinhos, where you get the freshest fish. Guimaraes is also a 40 minute train ride out of the city and is a charming old medieval town. You get there via the main central station, Sao Bento. Actually, nice places to stay up behind there, too, I think.
