Does anyone know if you were working in the public service doing a completely different role in a different dept would your increments carry over to the civil service? E.g: from dept of Justice TO Hse.

only relevant things i can find are the redeployment toolkit https://www.publicjobs.ie/publicjobs/redeployment.htm and http://hr.per.gov.ie/starting-pay-on-recruitment/

Actually maybe they are just relevant to redeploying entire sections of staff.

    Any help appreciated>

I'm currently looking into this for myself

But as far as I know the roles have to be comparable - ie Previouly working as a CO in one Dept and now working as a Co in another

If starting a completely different role you may not get the incremental credit - say going from a CO to a Garda

Increments are always transferrable within the Civil Service, e.g., from the Department of Agriculture to Revenue. However, they don't necessarily transfer from the Civil Service to the broader public sector, e.g., public hospitals, local authorities, even if the payscale is the same. Your best bet would be to contact either the prospective employer or your union.
