Has anybody ever had success with applying for positions with this website?

I've applied for jobs down through the years directly via their website and nothing came of it, in terms of an acknowledgment from the company I was applying to and yet the job continued to be advertised?

I've been on it for the past year and have never had any replies from any of the companies despite being more than qualified enough. Went on to indeed.com last week and have received correspondence back already.

I honestly think Irishjobs.ie is a spoof website...

It's definitely not a spoof website. I have hired staff through it before.

Irishjobs is a good job site with lots of good jobs from decent employers. The problem is that some employers, and many recruitment agencies, don't bother replying to applicants that don't make the first cut. It's not really fair to blame Irishjobs for the poor behaviour of some a customers HR department.

I email my CV to the company directly, and if I really like the job I contact the company by phone to introduce myself, and then follow with email - cover letter and CV. Like to think it might make my application stand out when it is received.
I do find that it is very rare that you receive any reply or acknowledgement to a job application when unsuccessful. I know that there are a lot applying etc., but I find that this part of professional courtesy is no longer considered important....

Do you find that approach successful?Who do you ask for when you call as sometimes there's no phone number so do you find a number for the company and call?

Some unscrupulous recruitment agents will continue to advertise roles that have filled in order to harvest cvs for when they actually have similar roles. If you are working in a specialised field, then you may not see roles come up too often...but when you do, probably every agent you had talked to in the past will call you about the role.

Its a long time since I really studied Job sites in Ireland. When I was looking a them for contracts, would have said only about 33% of the jobs were real. The rest were duplicates, or old jobs that were already filled. If a job is very generic its probably not real.

Well I'm still job hunting, so it hasn't been successful yet!! But I have gotten a couple of interviews using this tactic.
If the company name is on the advert, I just google them. Then when I ring I ask for the person dealing with recruitment or the job advertised. And I ask if there is a direct email I can use, and start a convo from there. Keeping it brief but I have been told that making a direct contact can help in your application being noticed.
Although, a lot of adverts on such websites don't even give the name of the company. They just give the recruitment agencies contact details. Which I find very odd - I don't like applying for a job not knowing what company I'm applying for!!

    Try it, nothing to lose.
