Following on from the recent thread about becoming an agent, can anyone recommend any cattle buyers/agents operating in Co. Clare?
Need to reduce numbers here but the mart is problematic because the cattle all have horns.
    Any advice welcome, thanks.

I don't think any mart lets them through with horns now

Donedeal might be an idea? Do you know the weights of the cattle? That would give you a reasonable idea of the asking price.

Maybe depends on where you are. I was in the mart the other week and cattle with big horns in it.

Call vet, get the horns taken off properly. Got to mart and a get a proper price.

Selling of the yard is too open for the dealers.

Be careful with done deal. Sold animals off it before to a dealer. Christ it was the toughest few days I ever had. I learned fast from my experience

    Not a fan of dealers
Just think their us not enough profit to cut them into the deal
But why a tough few days?

Ah shur I was younger and I made a deal over the phone about how I would be paid for them. Arrived on of a Friday evening and paid half of it in one method and then a 3rd party cheque. Instead of saying no and unloading all the cattle he got around me and I agreed. He went with the cattle and Monday morning I went in to lodge the cheque I checked to see if there was money to meet it and there wasn't. By then he had them sold on to someone else. He did this and that but after a few days he sent on another cheque.
