Pure Telecom in rural area?

I've been looking at switching my phone and broadband provider. I've been living in my house for 5 years now and have never switched any providers which is pretty criminal!

Just switched my electric supplier which should save me about €50 per bill, and next up is the phone. I'm with Eir at the minute but according to bonkers.ie the best deal is with Pure Telecom. However they offer super fast fibre broadband, which I'm sure is not any use to me as I live in rural Donegal.

Can they still offer the bog standard broadband that Eir have been supplying? And if so would they offer any further discount?

I've sent an email but I know those are not usually answered all that quickly. Calling them is a pain as I work in the North during office hours.

Its the same service, doesn't matter that you're rural.

Those fibre speeds are available for me?

Edit, just checked their online availability and it says I can get 8mb

www.onebigswitch.ie currently have an offer via Pure Telecom. Unlimited Broadband, Unlimited Landline Calls, Unlimited Mobile Calls for €45.00 a month for 12 months. I cannot see how long the contract is for, but it is usually for 18 months.

Up to 8mb product, or the line can take 8mb? What speed do you get currently?

Can't remember but I'll check at home.

    I know it's pretty poor.

It's not gonna just get better. It's the same eircom service.

I'm guessing they're selling an up to 8mb service (based on Eircom NGB from 7/8 years ago)

    EDIT:

Just out of curiosity I checked my mothers number (2mb max line)

Great! Your line can support our Unlimited Next Generation service with speeds of up to 8MB

That's what I figured, and I'm fine with that.

I just wondered if they're offering a shiny new special price for those who can get 100mb fibre, are there any better deals for those poor sods like me who will be lucky to get 4mb.

When I switched to Pure at the beginning of the year, after my local cabinet was upgraded to Fibre, It was €28 ish a month for 1st 6 months through switcher. Included broadband up to the highest speed supported from the Eir infrastructure, as well as unlimited landline calls day or night. Mobiles extra on a per call basis. I think I can have unlimited mobile added on for €7 ish + VAT. It goes to forty something after 6 months. 18 month contract.

I moved from Vodafone. No complaints!
