I'm looking into what's needed to get a full BE license. I currently have a B license, and am wondering do i need to do a Theory test, get a provisional BE license and then do a driving test with trailer?!

Will I also need lessons to be clocked up prior to applying for the test?!

Anyone with info is much appreciated.

If you havent done the theory test before you need to do it and get a permit. Lessons advisable but not necessary.

If you have completed the Category B theory test within the last 5 years you are ok. Otherwise you will need to re-take Cat B theory test. Then apply for Learner Permit for Cat BE.

As stated, lessons are advisable, there are no set-amount of lessons required before taking the test for BE (afaik). I was considering getting BE a few years ago - but ended up taking EC instead (which automatically covers Cat BE).

As a matter of interest, do you wish to tow a very large trailer?
The reason I ask is that Cat B covers up to 3500kg combined - car and trailer - weight (with certain restrictions applicable to vehicle and trailer)
