Hello, i am i need of some advice from anyone who knows the rules regarding storage containers to the rear of my property, i live in a rural area with my next door neighbour around 100m away and both properties are surrounded with tree boundaries. The problem is, i built a shed that was objected against as it was stated i built it outside my boundaries which on further examination was totally false and i was at least 6m inside the boundary, anyways the Council continued with the objection and it ended in Court with the Judge awarding the Council the vote and ultimately i had to completely demolish the building and return the ground to it's original state, they also gave me a lovely 1000euro fine as well for my bother. Anyways this happened around 2 years ago and at that time, due to the garage/shed being used for storage and me having to remove it i had to find somewhere for all my stuff so i placed 2 temporary storage containers in so i could store my property. Now the lovely Council have approached me telling me i have now formal notice to remove the containers..... i doin't know where i stand and when the containers go i will have absolutely nowhere to store anything. the containers are very presentable, not an eyesore and can only be seen when at the rear of my property on my own ground... Can anyone help, i'm pulling my hair out here.

What size are the storage containers?

    one 40 foot container...

    standard being 40 x 8 feet = 12.192 x 2.438 Meters = 29.7 sq m
this over the allowed exempted size of 25 sq m

2 containers and your way beyond it.

even two 20 foot containers would be beyond whats exempt.

If you do things by the book, then you are unlikely to have any objections.

Planning laws are supposed to apply to all, not just some.

Apply for planning for a garage (or build within the exempted regulations)

Rent storage for containers off site

    Build garage

    Containers are not permanent structures.
They are not mobile homes either, you're not going to live in them.
    Why would you need planning?

Apply for a garage, by all means, but that has nothing to do ith your lovely neighbour and his vexatious complaints.

If there on site that length of time they cannot be deemed temporary
