No water this morning

    Lads,

Firstly, we had no mains water this morning, I turned the tap and heard a slight gurgling sound and no water came out. We are in Finglas.

Luckily I had some water in the kettle, and in the coffee machine, so crisis was averted, however I called in to the call centre at approx 7.15am.

Your staff need new scripts, the questions they ask are ludicrous.

"Are you sure the water is off" - what do you expect the answer to be here? "No, I'm not sure, I just called on the off-chance that my water was off, I haven't actually checked, here let me....oh...what do you know...my water is not off"

"Have you checked with your neighbours" - at 7 in the morning? The last thing I want to do is knock into my night-shift neighbour on one side, and the elderly couple on the other side, with my screaming dirty child (who I can't wash, because I've no water, yes I'm sure I've no water).

Stop telling me "I understand" and other scripted nonsense, it's infuriating and insincere, just tell me what you are going to do, tell me you'll update me by phone or email and follow up on what you say you will do, not like the last few times you promised calls back and didn't call back.

This is not the first time the water has been turned off without notice, and seemingly no explanation other than "check the website" - while on the same call telling me "we have no record or notice of disruption in your area" - so what, exactly, is the website going to tell me?

It's the runaround, it's a horrible experience, and you do it to confuse and obfuscate customers.

Can you please tell me why my water was off this morning in Finglas, when service will be resuming and why this keeps happening?

    Hi Lovely Bloke,

I'm sorry to hear you've had this experience with our customer service.

Regarding the loss of supply in Finglas this morning, there was a burst water main in the area which has affected a number of properties. Crews are currently working to repair the burst main and hope to restore supply as soon as possible.

We currently have no estimated restoration time, however, we will post any updated information to our website as soon as we receive it. Link: https://www.water.ie/water-supply/supply-and-service-update/

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, Irish Water are working to improve the infrastructure & water quality in Ireland.

If there's anything further I can help with, please ask and I'll be happy to help.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

That's my wife Daniel, she uses a male name here on Boards because she gets a lot of hassle when people think it's a female.

Yes, still in the 21st century that happens.
