The import duties are calculated on the total price you pay, so the item plus the postage charges.

    49 US$ is approx €46.
    21% of 49 is 10.29 or €9.66.

Ebays calculations are correct, as Nava has said above.

Without Ebays GSP its up to Revenue in the DMC to check for dues, but with it you'll always pay. I would never ever suggest using somebody other than ebay never :pac:

I found the same item slightly cheaper with the same shipping cost and no GSP import charges.

I have said in many threads that an post seem to look at the value of the item to determine if VAT is applicable or not. If it is over the limit they then do charge VAT on the combined item & shipping cost.

I can't recall a time where I was ever charged duty on an item whose ex-shipping value was below the €22 limit. Not sure if I have read many, if any posts of people wondering if they should have been charged if using standard mail and were valued under €22.

I know the effective limit is around €26 as they do not collect under €6 in VAT, but a €6 item with €21 postage is above the limit and should/could be caught going via an post.

The couriers will get you most of the time.

It could be caught, but realistically if its a packet not a parcel and lightweight the odds of AP/Rev @ DMC picking it up is less than 1/100.
