Best way to pay?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked and answered before, iv searched and can't find a direct answer.

I'm looking to buy a vintage Land Rover from the UK. Due to work I'm unable to travel over to pick up a vehicle. My question is what is the safest way to pay for the car once it's been sourced? I would be getting it off a dealer and having it transported to the west of ireland via a car transport company . I'm just not sure which is the best way to pay to ensure that its there when the lorry arrives to pick it up, and some fella isn't in the Costa del sol with my hard saved dough . Sorry if it's been asked to death. Any insights would be appreciated. Many thanks

Is it a reputable dealer, have you Googled the name to see if anything bad comes back?

Generally something like a credit/debit card transaction would be most secure and capable of a refund if the company folds, a bank transfer would mean zero outcome if the company went bust tomorrow and you were due to collect the car on Friday.

I used transfermate to buy a car in the uk recently. The way it word is you set up an account with them and transfer the required amount into their Irish account, they then transfer it to their U.K. account and hold it there until you give the ok to transfer it to the dealers account. Once the account is set up the whole process a few hours. I also saved about €300 on the exchange rate. The girls in the office are very helpful in setting the whole thing up, highly recommended.

    Thanks for the replys.

Iv done some searches online and haven't come across anything too negative about the dealer apart from someone giving out about their tyres on their new car not be being brand new. But it's like anything there is bound to be a bit of risk. Iv also done a dvla check and it's come back ok.

I hadn't come across transfermate. Iv looked into it there and it seems to be the safest and easiest way to go.

I'm still a bit dubious though especially since its a vintage landrover. I could be buying a bag of bolts.
