Surveyor or engineer?

I'm looking at a house i really like, it needs work, building work at the back to redesign rooms and probably needs electrics done. Who should i get to survey it? Is it just a surveyor or some kind of engineer? Will they be able to give me details of what needs doing and approx prices? Where do i find one of whoever i need?
