    Some items from that piece:
    RTE wrote:
Newstalk CEO Tim Collins is to step down with immediate effect after less than a year in the role.

His departure was announced during an address to Communicorp staff members this morning.

Mr Collins will remain with Communicorp in a consultative role.

A number of other operational changes at Communicorp were also announced, including the roles of CEO at both 98FM and Spin 1038 being made redundant.

Communicorp owns Newstalk, Today FM, 98FM, and Spin 1038.

    ...

Head of Today FM Keith McCormack is expected to become CEO of both 98FM and Spin as part of an expanded role which encompasses the music stations within the group.

Newstalk is now expected to appoint a new editor-in-chief, who would also be responsible for news and sport content at Today FM, 98FM, and Spin however, the role of Newstalk CEO is being made redundant.
    I love this bit:
Communicorp's two existing sales houses will be merged into one, with the sales team for 98FM and Spin having to compete with the sales team of Today FM and Newstalk to become the overall sales house for Communicorp.
No wonder they were trying to get INM to buy Newstalk - it must be losing money hand over fist. Unfortunately for redacted, the INM CEO blew the whistle on that little stunt.

    yeah just seen this.

    :D

ya gotta MARVEL at the economics of the media in this country. paying wages far FAR in excess of the average in an industry that doesnt seem to be able to either A. make a red cent in proft. or B is dozens of millions of euro in dept and growing.

its redundancies now but i bet wage cuts are on the cards down the road. wait n see.

poor pat mayve been better staying with RTE after all !

Not surprised with Spin 1038, it's awfully bad, in fact most stations on FM are bad, at Spin it seems the majority of there presenters come across as up there own backsides and is if they are catering for just certain parts of Dublin.

98FM, suppose not the worst really, can't say there would be a go to show on that station for me, Adrian and Jeremy is just piss poor these days, it's so scripted it's literally unbelievable to think these guys held one of the best talk shows in Dublin, and to hear to crap there putting out now.

Is there even a dance program on the station, something like 'Freaks on Friday'?

As for Newstalk or Today FM, both wouldn't be my cup of tea.

To be honest, I think the licencing authorities need to wake up at this stage, they are falling asleep at the wheel and the radio bus is about to come flying off the road. I'd imagine a few more licences will be handed back over the next 10 years.

Just disappointed paul williams wasn't let go from newstalk at the same time.

Current lineup is absolute garbage, used to be a huge fan and encouraged people to listen but recently ive actually been telling people to steer clear from all their shows apart from off the ball.
