    Hi Guys,

I have a 2015 Opel Insignia. Bought it in December last year.

How often does it have to get serviced? and what would servicing include? This is the first car I've owned so i'm not that familiar with how to keep the car in best shape.

I'm thinking of giving it in service now, Its been 4-5 months since i bought it and I'm thinking of going for the €200 40 points service from Gowan Motors (Navan Road). What do you guys think?

There's usually a service schedule somewhere in the documentation along with the owner's handbook.

Generally cars should be serviced at least once a year or after a certain mileage (traditionally around 10-12k km), but the latter varies significantly based on the type of engine and oil used. Certain services may require more work (e.g. more might need doing every other service, or every two years, or whatever).

    €200 sounds like a lot...

Check your car's user manual and service book.
All info regarding servicing schedule and items required to be done at certain time/mileage are there.

I'd be against going in just for service, no matter how many points/checks they advertise.

I'd go by the service book, and either service myself or if you can't, find a garage and ask them for exact list of items required.
F.e. I'd ring a garage, and instead of asking for service price, I would ask for price of 5w30oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter, and brake fluid change.

BTW - list above is just an example. As I said you'd need to check with your manual/service book to know exactly what is required as certain miles/age, what type of oil is needed, etc...

In car 2 years old, it's probably not a bad idea to service it in the main dealer.

There should be a service booklet in the glovebox with the instruction manual that will outline when and what should be serviced.

Will have a look, Thanks !

How much would it normally cost? They have 3 options, €99 Oil and filter change, €149 20 point service and €200 for 40 point service.

If it's a service including air and pollen filters €200 is reasonable, I also assume it's a diesel and therefore more expensive than a petrol to service.

I have a 2014 Insignia and it gets serviced every 30k according to the Opel spec/dealer,
So once a year service for me as I do the guts of 30k + every year.

Normally costs me around the 270/300 euro mark for the full " opel assured " service and parts.

Yes I know its probably a little bit more expensive that the average garage but suits me fine 1 time a year to give it to Opel to give it the full health check and I have the full stamped service history for future sell on etc.

Give Bolands Opel in Clondalkin a shout, very competitive main Opel dealership

Just DIY serviced mine, oil, air, fuel pollen filters, and correct oil from my local factors, €83, from this you can judge if you're being over charged.

^ this is an oil & filters change, not a service. They check some other things, like underside, suspensions, brakes, bushes, maybe a diagnostics scan.

    You'd be surprised.

No longer a main dealership...but an Opel specialist.

Well, they did it for me, and it makes sense because they can spot things and it's way easier to get you to pay since the car is already in there.

That's a bit unfair. Not regarding the diagnostic scan, if the poster has the ability to change oil and filters I'm sure they could spot worn bushes or brake pads while under the car draining the oil. A keen eye will see a lot.

I'm sure he can, but this is the reason you pay more for a service, to have someone else looking for you :)
I was just saying that there are more things done during a service, not just oil and filters renewal.

I have an Insignia 2014 bought from the Opel dealer. Get a text/ email every time it is due for a service. Great car and great service have to say.

Yours is younger than mine. Where did you buy it, no names, obv, but was it a main dealer or what?

The service department is an Opel dealership, the sales department is specialist

    Listed on Opel website:

I've got a 141 insignia service interval is every 30K although I get mine done more often than that. Ive had this engine in a car before and it never gave me any issues in 200k KM with 15K services.(my cars work hard ;) )

An indy does mine for not a whole pile more than that, well worth the extra few quid Imo.
