Looking to get a sim-free (unlocked) Android-based smartphone in the mid range (about €350 max).

Was looking at the Samsung A5 but noticed several reviews mentioning its poor build quality.

Also checked out the LG G5 SE, but that seems to have mixed reviews on youtube.

    Any suggestions??

Currently tossing up between Nokia 6, Moto G5 Plus, and the Sony XA1.

Honor 6X could be worth a look aswell.

hmm Nokia 6 seems tempting to me. But there isn't a definite release date from what I can see.

looking at the same options, G5+ seems a better phone (better processor and camera) than the N6 but is also more expensive. Featurewise they're very similar (N6 has a bigger screen but that's really a matter of preference, 5.2" is probably big enough for most).

From what I see, only the XA and G5 seem to be available right now - seems that along with Nokia 6 ,the XA1 and G5 Plus haven't been released, at least not in Europe so far.

Wasn't really keeping up with new phones but that Nokia 6 looks amazing and reasonably priced too.

The Lenovo Zuk Z2 looks excellent for the price

I have one and the software (stock ROM) on it is intentionally made to make it look like an iPhone. Even the menus are identical looking. You'll have to flash a custom ROM if you get one. Also the camera is muck.

My sister got the LG G5 SE off Komplett and loves it. The camera is really good, and seems a better phone than the ZUK Z2, despite a 6-series snapdragon over the 820 in the ZUK.

Thre's a deal on HUKD today for the Moto Z + JBL Sound mod for £299 from carphone warehouse which is pretty much in your budget. (until you factor delivery or whathaveyou in :D) The phone itself is fantastic, although the battery is a little on the wimpy side.

I have one, paid a bit more than that for it. Has the 820 chipset, decent camera, quad HD screen, very little bloat, fun gesture controls...

If you're in the midrange price category, make sure to get a phone with NFC, a feature that's becoming more and more useful - the Leap card app to topup at home or on the go (the topup is applied immediately to your card) is one and Android payments for AIB and KBC customers also require it.

Might wait until the Nokia 6 is released at this stage. Either that or the 2017 model of galaxy A5, it's getting good reviews & seems to be a mid range that looks nice & almost as good as the much more expensive S7. Nokia 6 will probably be much better value & cheaper than A5 though.
