Nope, why try and better an already great movie? It just does not make sense.........Will probably watch anyway coz I'm secretly a masochist....

New trailer from MTV Awards last night.

This feels more than a little redundant, though Stephen King has definite brand recognition, and the film adaptation of The Mist was enough of a cult classic to get those familiar interested, albeit cynically so. TV adaptations of middling cinema hits seems very in at the moment I guess.

The film was a fairly neat, self-contained package: I couldn't imagine any sort of TV version without including a hell of a lot of dreary padding, while removing much of the actual mystery that the movie had. IMO, part of the lasting appeal of the film was the inherent question mark left floating about the monsters' origins.

I highly doubt the series will have the same ending as the film.

But if done right it could be a fun interesting claustrophobic story with a beginning, middle and end.

It won't I'd imagine as the ending in the film is not from the book at all. The book also gives a loose explanation for the origin of the monsters, but we'll just have to see if this becomes the background or forefront of the new show at some point.

New trailer today. I still like the look of this - I hope it's good.

    Starts on Thursday fortnight.

The Inception-style 'bwaaa's' put me off more than a bit but I think this series will be more relationship-based rather than chilling.
Every fcuking show revolves around a family trying to reunite...twd, got, strain...

Fantastic opening double episode laying some great groundwork and tension for the season to come if they can tie all the strings together by the end they will have a great series on there hands.

Hollywood Reporter critic wasn't impressed with this at all.

The first episode was decent I thought pretty gruesome I could do without the teens though

I've also only seen the first episode so far, will catch up on the rest tomorrow - not spectacular but fairly decent and as above, it actually is more violent than I expected.

Enjoyed episode 3 nicely keeping the tension building and some nice gore.

Definitely a pretty interesting and excellent show.

Episode 3 lost me a bit. That bit outside the church I thought was way too in your face and should have been far more subtly horrifying, instead it was cheesy and camp looking in my eyes and brought the atmosphere down a lot.

I thought the first two episodes were trash. I'm out.

If you're a fan of the 2007 film, or the King story, I don't think there's much for you here. It's everything those things were not.

After quitting the 4th episode 10 minutes in, I agree. This show is very weak, I thought the first episode had promise but it's already descended into a feeble, soap-like afternoon show with transparent characters and boring narrative.

    I'm out.

I'm still going to stick with it for another episode or two. But there just seems to be too many people and too many locations. What made the 2007 Darabont movie so good, in my opinion, is that it all happened in one place. Ramped up the tension so much more, because you pretty much knew that outside = death. Whereas now, with this incarnation, it's only bad when it is thicker, but it's OK as it doesn't always stay thick.

Also the whole church thing, with the worshiping of the spider, just seems.. odd.

It is terrible, 0/10, waste of time, don't watch even if you are fan of film/book.
    my 2 cents.

I managed to watch as far as episode 5 but it was a struggle...I was half hate watching it.

Its a shame it just feels so uneven and badly acted with characters making bizarre decisions, the premise is terrific, the film is good the short story is also excellent, this show is none of those things.

Ive watched the first 9 episodes. Ill watch the season final but its doubtful ill watch season 2. It started good but by episode 3 it lost my interest. If it was based more on the movie it would be better.

It did go rapidly downhill after the first couple of episodes which I enjoyed.

I've been watching Foundflix's synopsis of each episode and I'm glad i didn't tune in.

Stuck it out to the end, would not recommend. Finale was ok, sort of, still had it's fair share of nonsense.

Was thinking of watching this, but going by the negative comments, I'll pass.

Though heard about this story and just thought Netflix were taking their advertising a bit too far

Just about watchable when really stoned. Acting is atrocious. I'll be bitterly disappointed if everyone doesn't die when the final credits roll.

Its been a chore most episodes watching this show but I have to say that I loved the season finale. Very satisfying to see
the car crash into the mall doors and for that nutjob whackadoodle lady from the church die (though that baby was freaky as hell)

Not getting all the hate , while it is by no means a great TV show there is far worse out there with large fan bases. I find the actors are quite good and they have created flawed believable heroes, the story is rattling on and I would tune in for a second season.

The show is advertising itself as Stephen King's The Mist but the actual mist is the only similarity. No monsters! Oh wait, humanity is the monster...that has never been done before.

There are worse shows about yes, but it is wasting a great premise and only shows flashes of what it could so I personally found it hugely frustrating to watch.
