Only ever put out one go of fertiliser each Spring, ground just trafficable now, very cool last few days.Would it be as well to wait till temps increase a bit to put out fertiliser (18:6:12)?.... or just get it out?

What are growth rates like at the mo?....feck all growth here at mo(Mayo).

Get it out. It's of no use in the bag.

Once the ground is above 7 degrees and ground is trafficable get it spread

Ah lads come on. It's nearly the middle of April will ye get the fertilizer out. Next thing it'll rain and ye'll say its too wet again! Grass is obviously growing, there's lads have grass cut for bales near me. Ye probably have the lawns cut? Growth rate of 50 here last week but wouldn't have that if I'd left fertilizer in the bag.

Farning in mayo aswell have 90 units of Nitrogen on about 20% of the farm and 70 units on the rest. Most of the silage fertiliser is out aswell.
Growth rates are good grew 40 last week. Cows are 4 days into second rotation.

Very true but we could be farming beside each other aswell.
In fairness soil type has a bigger effect than location and there are some very difficult soils in mayo.

Put it out a fortnight ago on some of our ground in North/west Clare and its growing mighty now. Sorry I hadn't a bit more ground covered to be honest.

That's truego mile and a half from my house and there's a bog and go the other way and there's a quarry. A half mile in front of my house there's a river and a mile behind there's a lake. our land is rock solid now and waiting on warmth and a small drop of rain;)

When you kneel down to say you morning prayers ( the ones you forgot when you got out of bed) if your knees get wet out in the field keep spreading urea. When I buy straight N Can and Ureal on a N basis I buy 80% urea to 20% Can. After that I but another 20%N in the form of compound 18-6-12

    Slava Ukrainii

Location is important as well. I'm in coastal NW Mayo, where growth is generally 3-4 weeks behind more sheltered areas. That's even with high soil index ground.
Salt spray has a big effect.

I have been putting it out for the last 3 weeks. Almost blanket spread the farm in January with 10-10-20. The fields are very green. It no big flush of grass yet though. Still feeding bales out to cows. We out winter all the sheep here so the ground was very bare. Hoping to house them in the next year or two so I have more spring grass
