Looking for a new Helmet... Do a bit of racing, looking for something that looks good (eye rolling emphasis on the 'looks good' - has to look good, right?) around the €100 mark, can be aero, but I do sweat alot, so more vents might be better... Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I got a present of a Kask Mojito at Christmas. It feels very comfortable and is a good fit. I'm also a fan of the replaceable padding.

Would be a benefit in a game of Mallet's Mallet alright.

Good to know about the replaceable padding, other helmets, no matter how much washing, have always started to stink after a few summer weeks...

Spotted that just now on Wiggle - looks like a good option.

I have 3 helmets all of which I think look good.

    1. Uvex Ultrasonic Race - very light and very comfortable. Tidy design which looks very neat when worn.

    063hGV

    2. Kask Protone - probably the most aero and looks great too. Mine is plain black.

    2kU6mC

    3. Briko Fuoco - the heaviest and warmest of the 3 and so mainly only when during winter/cooler days. Looks really good.

recently bought a giro aeon, which i really love.

Previously I had a Spiuk Nexxion which definitely looked better than current, but it was a tiny bit tight on me.

Also recently went through a giro Savant, which was also very comfortable, was excellent value for money but when i replaced it I went for the aeon because it was on special offer and because it looks a bit better imo.

To explain the turnover all "recent" - my puppy ate the spiuk, i replaced it with the savant, started keeping my helmet in my bedroom out of reach of the dogs but we went away fro the weekend and kids let it in to the room, so it ate that one too. So I am on my third helmet in 4 months or so, though I had had the spiuk nexxion for a few years.

So far I have managed to keep the aeon out of its jaws.

I take it, the dog is a good healer but has a terrible memory :)

i'm certainly no expert, but next time i buy a helmet, high on the list of things i will be looking for is replacement pads provided with it.
i've a bell which the pads are fairly shot on and no sign of being able to buy replacements easily.

The replacement pads don't have to be an exact fit. Once they hold their position and cover most of the internal shape it'll be OK. So you could buy spares from a different model.

Im very picky about helmets, I had heels in the past and they fitted me perfect and Giro never did, as they have changed models, bells no longer fit, but giros do, I tried Kasks, they don't suit my head. I have a specialised prevail and 2 Giros at the moment and they all fit great, go to giros for 100 each on a German site, one for the black cx bike and one for the white road bike, but use the Specialised for road racing and long rides when it's dry etc-that is about e200 though. I have seen it go for half price at different times though

This is supposed to be a universal replacement pad kit, haven't used so not sure how good they are:

Another endorsement for the Kask Mojito here. Tidy helmet that doesn't make you look like you have a mushroom head.

Cheers for the feedback, very useful - I've a small head for my body, reckon based on the above a Kask may look mushroomy - will head down the Giro route so...

Looks like you can cut out shapes to fit the inner contours. Once the velcro adhesive is strong, there should be no problem.
