Soft play area for kids in garden

I'm not sure if I should cross post this in the parenting forum but I'll chance it here first...

We have just replanted a backyard which had previously been gravelled. One corner is particularly stony and the grass didn't grow as well. It happens to be the sunniest corner of the garden so we're thinking of putting down childrens soft mats and making it into a play area for them. Has anyone used anything like the products in these links?

Was it difficult to put down? What are/were the pros and cons?

I know this is an old one, but OP did you get anywhere with this?

I've been looking into it but who I have talked to so far have just said they don't do residential.

I would even consider a DIY option.

I know it is probably expensive as hell.
