Idiots shining lasers at aircraft

Firstly, apologies for the vertical video.

This is infuriating. I took this the other night on approach to runway 28 at Dublin. A completely unnecessary distraction in a critical phase of the flight

This is just passing the Malahide Road, the Clarehall Shopping Centre is visible and the light appears to be coming from the Darndale area.

Might be worth making contact with the IAA with a copy of that video, it should be possible to work out a pretty good idea of the ground location, which may make it possible for Gardai to be in the area for a future event, which should lead to a prosecution.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Virtually impossible to police this. In a built up residential area with a laser the size of a biro.

This is definitely the exception, but not totally impossible, especially if they're as stupid as they seem:

As far as I know there have been a number of arrests in relation to this kind of stuff over the years.

Maybe. Haven't heard of any in Ireland.

This a regular enough occurrence I would imagine? - I've experienced it about 2 or 3 times on approach to 28.

    Absolute scumbags.

Edit- each time it came from Darndale area

There was one lad arrested and charged over shining a laser at the Garda Helicopter.

The judge in question missed a vital opportunity to make an example of that particular idiot.
