Eye contact with laptop screen

I have a big problem with eye contact, so big that it's effecting my entire social life, and making me avoid people. And I always appear suspicious/annoying to people because of unusual eye contact.

When I look at people, I can feel them looking at me, and kind of see what they're seeing. And it always seems kind of aggressive, or like they're trying to win a staring contest, wanting me to look away. I know that's not the case, but I still feel like it is.

But I realized, I don't care/think about it in the slightest when I watch videos of people on the internet. I look wherever I want to look, probably mainly at their eyes out of instinct.

My question is, why is it not a problem when it's through a laptop screen? And how do I start seeing people in real life the way I do through a screen?

I know it's because they're not real on a laptop, and I know they can't see me or judge me, but do any of you have any ideas on why the fact that they see me/judge me in real life makes it harder to make eye contact?
