Weather forecast reliability?

Hey everyone,

My partner and myself are looking into going somewhere a little bit warmer than Ireland for a couple of days to rest up a bit for her birthday. We were looking at Palma, Majorca but it seems like the weather forecast on accuweather isn't that great. Are these early forecasts reliable or is the weather there more predictable than here meaning it's generally sunny whatever happens? Ideas are welcome. Thanks a lot!

I use yr.no it will give you a hour by hour break down.
Mallorca have many different climates, palma might show ok weather but the sunshine and heat could be up the road in pollenca, like anywhere else there will be regional variations based on topography

How 'early' are we talking about? Anything more than 10 days out is no better than reading tea leaves and you're better off looking up weather statistics rather than a supposed forecast.

The weather in the Med. or anywhere in western Europe is no more predictable than it is in Ireland, weather fronts sweeping in from the Atlantic with the prevailing winds determine what happens most of the time.

Yeah, it is more than 10 days at the moment. We're looking to go around 2 weeks from now. But I did look at weather in other cities in the same 'area' and it seems like they coincide with each other being 'partial thunderstorms'.

Ah you can't possibly forecast thunderstorms that far out, complete guesswork with nothing to back it up.

Majorca can be quite nice at the end of April, although I've heard of a few who have gotten a few days of cloud and maybe one or two of rain (in a week), I've always been blessed with sunshine and temps in the mid 20's.

+1 Thunderstorms are usually very localized i.e. hit and miss - they can hit someone two miles away and not bother you at all so a forecast for two weeks out which includes thunderstorms is total BS.

Two weeks out, you just have to take your chances. The airfares will have gone up and there will be reduced (or very little) choice of accommodation if you leave it within the window of a reliable weather forecast.

If you want guaranteed weather, you need to go to somewhere like Dubai.
