Transfer from NUIG to GMIT

Hi guys, im a first year science student in NUIG and the first year was really tough. Coming from a small school where we had maybe 12 or 13 people in a class in leaving cert going to a lecture hall with 300+ students was so hard. I hated my lecturers not knowing my face or even my name and even tutorials were filled with maybe fifty people. There was no PAL or study group kind of thing where you were within a smaller Group of people. There's nothing wrong with NUIG it just doesn't suit me and I wish I'd thought things through a bit more when doing the Cao and hadn't been kinda snotty about IT's which I thing everyone is a bit. I just wanted to know has anyone transferred from NUIG to GMIT or know anyone who has or even from another university to an IT. Just some advice on what to do and whether or not it's a relatively simple process. I've heard of people doing it the other way around and the opposite might be a bit rare or whatever. But I just think the small numbers of an IT are more appealing. Not to mention I heard that first year science in nuig is like second year science in GMIT when it comes to the actual content.
    Thanks in advance

I'm looking at doing the same thing but my reasoning is I am only interested in one section of my course and I can fully specialise in that in GMIT.

I've talked to department heads, I'd advise you get in contact with both NUI and GMIT about transferring, if you pass your exams and if content overlaps (basically if you're going into the same or very similar degree) you can progress to second year but in GMIT instead. You still need to meet the points and that would only really be an issue moving to medical science for example.

Ask away if you've any questions!
