I was sure there was an old thread discussing just podcasts, but it seems it was mixed in with discussion of critics, Kermode, etc.

Anyway I wanted to recommend Soundtracking with Edith Bowman. Fairly newish podcast in which directors discuss the music in their films. A lot of great guests including Ben Wheatley, Gareth Edwards, Nicholas Refn, Richard Linklater, Danny Boyle, Edgar Wright, etc. Most episodes are only 40 minutes long, so doesn't overstay its welcome like Kermode & Mayo, Filmspotting, etc. Best film podcast I've listened to in a long time.

If anyone has any other recommendations be sure to share them. Film podcasts are dime a dozen, but I find most of them are heavy on the waffle. It's nice to find to one that's well produced and interesting.

Slashfilmcast is decent. Used to like listening to Jeff Cannata on Weekend Confirmed (gaming podcast) so followed him to this.

I'd second /filmcast, great show. I also enjoy fighting in the war room

Digigods is one I listen to every week.

Like the Kermode/Mayo podcast this is heavily based around the two guys' banter, so may not suit everyone.

"Maltin on Movies" is quite good too.

He doesn't always have great guests (and his daughter is really annoying), but there are some very good episodes.

Fuds on film is one I sometimes listen to. Some Scotsmen reviewing films. Episodes are a mixture of contemporary releases and themed ones (e.g. a particular Japanese director or genre of film).

The CinemaSins guys started a movie podcast about one year ago and it has gone from strength to strength. It started about 30 mins long but is now usually about 2 hours. Their videos are rather tongue-in-cheek but the podcast is more serious movie discussion but also very entertaining and sometimes hilarious. Two of the three contributors are former cinema projectionists / managers and have an encyclopedic knowledge of movies. As with most things, it takes a few episodes to reach their stride. The best thing about it starts at episode 14 where they review each year per episode starting with 1975 and then choose their overall favourite film from that year.

They occasionally do 30 minutes "minipod" episodes focusing on a single new release.

It is basically 3 good friends discussing movies. Their language can be a little colorful at times but nothing worse than you'd hear in a pub on a Friday night.

Definitely recommended. It comes out weekly on Mondays - https://soundcloud.com/cinemasins

It's not a film a podcast (though they do occasionally discuss films and tv), but I really think Hello Internet puts all other two-dudes-talking podcasts to shame.

Two other film podcasts that I regularly listen to:

You Must Remember This - about forgotten Hollywood history. Very well produced.

The Next Picture Show - recent releases discussed alongside the classic films that influenced them. Hosted by the old crew from The Dissolve, a very articulate and knowledgable bunch with consistently interesting thoughts.

    Rowthree Cinecast

These guys spoil the main feature review, so go in prepared for that. However, their discussions are always quite interesting.

FilmJunk and See You Next Wednesday

Both 3 guys in a room hangout 'casts. Good fun with some insight.

    Saturday Night Movie Sleepovers

A retro movie podcast. Link to site seems to be acting up. You should find their cast on Stitcher.

Heroes for Hire - an Irish comicbook and movie based podcast that's kinda newish. They tackle all the weeks movie news along with weird news. They also do a cool segment called Hero or Zero every week talking one comicbook character and doing an in depth discussion on them. I find it really funny and their accents are just cool

I always listen to them on podbean, I find it's the best app for listening to stuff but they're on Itunes, Spotify and Castbox too i think?

Black Men Can't Jump in Hollywood is a really good podcast where three black (that is important in this instance) friends watch and discuss films with black leads (or leads of a minority race). It's really insightful but also very funny at times. Their episodes on Hidden Figures and Black Panther are particularly worth a listen.

Thread has clearly been bumped with someone trying to spread the word about a new-ish Irish podcast. Same response copied and pasted into 3 other threads in the podcast forum. The lack of transparency would put me off listening to it.

I like "how did this get made" - they basically just take the hand out of a really bad film, a lot depends on the films and the guests.
