Hi, i had to get the methotrexate injection 2 months ago to end an ectopic pregnancy much to our devastated hearts 😢 Got the mtx shot on 6th february, got my 1st period on the 8th march which was my usual 3-4 day cycle. I had irregular cycles prior to the ectopic but, never passed day 28. I was due my 2nd period the 4th april and I'm now 6 days late. I've taken a few pregnancy tests and they have all come up negative. I'm secretly hoping i am pregnant, but with everything that has happened I'm afraid to build my hopes up. Please could anyone please advise me as to what is happening that my periods are now delayed, and if i am preg, why has all these tests come up neg? xxxx

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Nobody here can give you medical advice but I imagine that when you take medications like that it could take your system time to settle back down from it. Have you had a chat with your EPU about it? They might be able to give you more information as to what to expect from the medications.

    Hi,
AF decided to show her dirty nose to me this morning 😣😣😣 secretly disappointed but, i didn't expect too much when all i was getting was BFN's. I spoke to my EPU nurse and she had me told that under no circumstances would the injection cause them to be delayed. I had been under extreme stress after this happened to us, 7 1/2 years trying for it all to end like that. I now have to go for the usual HSG test, does anyone know why you have to go for one of these after an ectopic/unknown pregnancy location. I have had 2 done before so, i know what to expect but, abit clueless as to why again?? Thank you

Yes, stress can delay a period all right - and obviously you've been massively stressed over your loss so that part of it is understandable and I know you must be disappointed today even thought you kinda guessed anyway. I know that feeling.

I'm not sure about the HSG again - hopefully others who've had an ectopic managed similarly to yours might be able to shed some light on that for you.

I'm sorry, I don't have much to offer here on advice but I wanted to post to say I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It must be so difficult.

My mother went through something very similar. They had been trying for 5 years and then had an ectopic... which was missed at first, the tube ruptured and she ended up gravely ill. A horrible experience.

Another three years passed of trying and then I came along. They had been trying to adopt for several year and had given up on ever conceiving so that was a bit shock. Two years later, my brother and then another two years and my sister came. They were never given a cause for their infertility.

Im sorry if this story isn't helpful, but what you posted had so many parallels to my mother's story so I had to share.

Thank you very much for sharing your mum's story :)
I was also told i would never become pregnant naturally either, that my only options would be IVF. Would not accept this for an answer from a fertility specialist and i put my foot down to get a second opinion and thankfully i found one with no help other than my own research on the good oul reliable Google, ha ha ha.
I had 2 blocked tubes, left being a proximal tubal and the right being distal, think its something like that. Found the most amazing doctor who said he would try. I had a HSG and selective cannula done and he was able to clear the tubes with hydrosalphinx in my left.
I suppose when i really think back, i had this procedure done on the 18th nov, my next cycle was 25th dec, and i found out i was preg on the 17th january. I had rushed into it with the excitement.
Our hearts were broken into 2 when i was told i would need the mtx shot, so devastating. My heart does go out to anyone who has to experience anything like this. We all think "This would never happen me" I can honestly say I was one of those. It tears you apart mentally, physically and emotionally. :(
Now I've to go for another one of these horrible tests, I'm hoping my tubes won't be blocked again :(

    Hi
I am going through my second ectopic as we speak.
The first ended in tubal removal and i really want to avoid that this time.
I am 9 weeks and since week 4 hcg has gone down every measurement except 2, todays was an elevation and so we think it is jot going to pass naturally.
Can i ask how methotrexate affected you over the days and weeks following tsking it?

    Hi Ladder789#

I'm so sorry you are going through this, thankfully I didnt have alot of side effects apart from cramping which is nothing worse than bad period pains. They do say after the mtx shot to try not conceive for 3 months afterwards as the shot is chemotherapy agent. 💕💕

Hi, I'm so sorry you are going through this especially after a loss of a tube already 😭
I didnt have a lot of side effects, only one I really noticed was cramping, but lots of TLC & hot water bottles eased these for me. I was told to not conceive for 3 months following the shot, as it has a chemotherapy agent.
