We are about to begin a new build and have applied for a water connection. As a guide can you give me your connection rates (works fees) for my area (Garryvoe, East Cork) so that we can manage our budget? You recently provided a query with the rates for Waterford so I assume you can do the same for my area. We do not need wastewater removal as we have to have our own treatment unit onsite. We are worried as feedback from many architects seems to be that we will be waiting some time for a connection and a fee. Electricity was sorted in 10 days so I had assumed water would be the same. Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

We're currently looking into this with the relevant department, and will be in touch as soon as we receive an update.

    Kind regards,
    Amy

    Hi Fiacloir1997,

    Thanks for your patience.

I've been in touch with the relevant department, who have advised me that the best way to find out would be to complete a New Connection application. More details can be found here.

We hope this helps. If you have any further queries, please feel free to ask.

    Kind regards,
    Amy

    Thanks Amy,

I find this response very unsatisfactory.
I am confused as to why Alex was able to provide Joebre with the relevant information for Waterford on 23/02/2017 but yet you cannot provide me with the same information for my area? It shows a lack of transparency.

Naturally I submitted a connection form - I did so three weeks ago but I have not received any response. I applied for my ESB connection the exact same day and we received a fee by return post and received a phone call from the local engineer a few days later / all in all a very easy experience.

    Please answer the following questions:
    1. My planning is pre 2014 - this means my water bill is included in my contribution fees but apparently not the connection fees. What are the connection fees? How much is and what exactly does 'connection' refer to?
    2. We will have our own treatment unit on site so no need for waste removal. What reduction will I receive for this?
    3. How long are you taking to process new applications? What happens after an application form is received? What is the timeframe for each step?

Please do not refer me to another department - this forum is pointless if you cannot answer any of my questions and refer me to other areas. I expect that if this forum exists then you as the Irish Water representative should be able to gather this information for me - We are paying enough for the service!

Many thanks again in advance for your help.
