    Hi everyone,

We have a Bord Bia inspection coming up & I have the following question on a procedure:

What would you do if while injecting cattle, a syringe broke in their neck & you couldn't remove it?

A bit of an odd question I know!

    Thanks
    Dot 😊

They are not going to look that close at the animals. Next time vet is out ask him to have a look

You have to staple a note to the animal's blue card saying this and that has to stay with that blue card forever till that animal goes to the factory or knackary.

I got that question before in an inspection.

Really did they ask you that?

Yep and that is what is supposed to happen if you or vet can't get the needle.
Not sure if it was on the record or just helpful advice.

Wouldnt worry about them type questions. Have your remedy usage recorded correctly and ul be fine.

That's some nonsense in fairness, how about if you said to them that you always make sure that the needle will not break and that you never left a needle in an animal? Would they still give you the penalty?

Board via assured beef, is that the reason why we are getting such high prices for our produce, it was great to here all the board bia heads defending Irish farmers when that vegan report came out last week. On the inspection, that all depends on the inspector you get, some are normal , d odd one is a legend in his own mind

We had the legend in their own mind a few years back, left a lasting memory. Had to write an appeal letter after he left. I think it all comes down to the medicine usage records. One good thing anyways is the proper storage of chemicals and medicines from an H&S point of view.
