Just saw this on twitter. What powers do the Gardai have to inforce UK law (assuming MOT and reg are U based)?

S41(f) of the Road Traffic Act 1994 allows Gardai to seize any foreign registered vehicle which hasn't a valid vehicle roadworthiness test in accordance with EU requirements.

Many may not be aware of this, but a large number of Garda cars carry in their boot a huge volume which details most foreign driving licences, testing certificates etc, gives translations and shows what to look for to identify fakes - on the last point my guess is your picture is a fake Технически преглед of Bulgaria pass.

I would sincerely wish a Templemore graduate the best in luck in reading one of these.

You might be surprised at the bulletins sent to all gardai with pictures, translations and security items of foreign licences

Some will remember a few years ago when a Garda noticed a lot of summons issued to one particular foreign name. Upon looking into it, he discovered it was the Polish translation of 'Driving Licence'

It is a technical test certificate. The equivalent of the NCT. The vehicle details/validity period are on the reverse.

Thanks for that, was meant to say Технически преглед (technical review) instead of National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation, god dam copy and paste :)
