My great grandfather also had this job. From what i hear it was pretty much a night watchman type role

It looks like the Limerick Archives has the records for the nightwatch but not online. The reference is L/NW Limerick City Council Night Watch on here https://www.limerick.ie/historicalresources/limerickarchives/archivecollections/collectionlists
