Temporarily removing carpet

    Hi all,
Have a fairly new carpet on my stairs and landing. Getting an extension done at the moment and they will be knocking through the top of the stairs. Obviously this means my carpet will end up getting wrecked.

Is there any place that can properly remove an old carpet and fittings, so it can be reused and put down again? I'm based in Ballyfermot D10.

    Thanks

Should be easy enough to pull up yourself? If you were to ask the likes of Des Kelly to take it up you'd be giving them money for nothing really.

If your carpet is fairly new, why not go back to the shop where you bought it and explain your situation, I'm sure their fitter would re-lay it for a fee.

    Well, new is 18 months!

I previously pulled up a carpet before, but it just wasn't the same. I might have a look at it again and see. The last carpet i took up, was "level" so easier to grab. This seems to "dip" against the wall.

if its put down with tack strips then it will come up easily.
if its stuck down you might damage the carpet or undelay. you will have a job getting the undelay off the carpet

The carpet will have been stretched onto gripper's around the perimeter. Taking it up will be simple, you will likely require a carpet fitter to re-install, as the carpet will need to be re-stretched.
