Change surname by deed poll, should I change passport

Hi guys. I really hope that someone can help me out in this. I am in the process of changing my children's surname (and my oldest son's name) by deed poll. My son has to go to England in June. Would he be able to travel on his passport with his old name and surname, or should we get a new passport?

I believe once you do the deed poll you are supposed to change everything into the new name, as the deed poll declares you are giving up the former name.

Thank you, I thought that would be case, but then someone told me today that he will have to use his new name and surname for 2 years (be known as) before they will change the names on the passport

He'll be able to travel as long as the name on the passport and the ticket are the same.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

That's if you're an adult...you need to show bank statements, etc. going back two years in your new name before they'll issue a passport in a different name to one you already hold.

I presume we're talking about a young child. Are you merely changing the lads surname to his father's, or to your own, or some derivation of both of your lastnames (like a hyphenated surname), or is it a more complex arrangement?
