Would a Golf mk4 1.9 tdi engine fit a Golf mkv 1.9tdi?

    Hi guys i am having problems with my golf mkv 1.9tdi,it is a bkc engine,the problems i am having are like in this video,the reason i ask is that i can get a mk4 engine for nothing.Any help would be great.Thanks all

    No the mk4 engine codes all start with the letter A and the use different mounts. Since its a cam issue you'll need a replacement head from a donor bkc rather than a whole engine (you definitely shouldn't need to go near the bottom end) or your original bkc head may be fixable.

    Either way the mk4 engine is of no use to you.

    Thanks mate for your reply,i was told that engine replacement was the way to go but,the engine only has 150,000 miles on it and makes no sence to change the engine

    You might not need an engine replacement. If you're any way handy with working on cars, or know someone who is who'd do it for cheap enough, its about a four hour job. There's a guide on YouTube that walks you through the entire thing.
    I had the same issue in my BKC, got quoted €13-1500 in a garage for the job. Got the parts for ~€300ish and myself and my father (mainly my father tbf 😂) went at it in a morning!
