I have had to pairs of Hollister jeans for sale on eBay for 3 weeks and they haven't sold, despite getting 110 views each.

There's listed at 24.99 and 29.99 plus postage. I am shipping within eu and USA and I have it listed on ebay USA also.

    Anything wrong with these listing?

Are you listing them on other sites as well or just ebay?

If they are not selling, then they are too expensive, or there is something unusual about the listing. Look for similar items and filter for completed auctions to see what the going price is.

See the important thing about selling used items on ebay is to always show high quality pictures of said items. You appear to have what look like stock photos of the jeans?

Plus postage. The ad looks dodgy to me - Shipping with Ireland usually 1-2 days after dispatch and 10 days for the UK.

It sounds like you only ship them after you've held the money for a couple of days. You'd be better saying 2 day normal delivery for Ireland. Who is going to wait 10 days in the UK instead of ordering there when they can get next day delivery.

Personally I don't order stuff where postage is a high percentage of the advertised cost because it makes me feel like I'm being treated as a dumb mug who can't figure out I'm paying the complete price.

I guess your right. I wouldn't be happy with that if I was buying.

It doesn't say much about jeans, are they new ? or used

Both new. I'm guessing that's not clear in the add?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,150 ✭✭✭Passenger

Aye, definitely say they're new in the body of the ad.

I've updated the add with cheaper postage cost. Extended the return policy and stated it in the body of the add, and stated the items are body in the body and title of the add.

    Not clear to me.
It looks like s store add yet you are just a normal seller ? Also are the pictures of jeans sample pictures or actual jeans for sale.

I'm a normal seller yes. I was trying to make the add look professional, should I change it?

They are the actual jeans. Photos taken from Hollister website.

Hollister have been selling most of their jeans for 20 and less the last few weeks, rrp means nothing. And you get their customer support if there is an issue. I know where I would be spending my money...

The pictures are catalogue pictures, not of the actual item. Personally thats an instant Ctrl-W for me on Adverts or Ebay.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,482 ✭✭✭Hollister11

If I change from catalogue to my own images, thus should increase sales?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

    Certainly wouldnt hurt.

I turned best offers on, and new photos are going up tomorrow.

So I reduced races to around €20 Marl, uploaded more photos and and still no sales. All I want is to break even at this point.

OP I buy a lot on Ebay, and have no problem buying from users such as you, but here are things that I look for :
~ an ad that looks genuine : genuine photos of the items, clear and with details, you don't have to worry about that with jeans, but with other clothing items I would expect to be able to see the texture of the fabric, and the exact colour under different lights if possible, and to see the item hanging, maybe creased or folded, front, back etc...

~ since I'm buying from a person as opposed to a shop, I would expect a few words from the seller such as : "I'm selling two pairs of jeans, the tags have been removed, but they are in excellent condition, with no stains, marks or tears."
or " I removed the tags before I tried them on, and they didn't fit, so they are in new condition."
    That kind of thing.

It seems odd to be selling something with no tags as new without some sort of explanation. You know they are in new condition, but we only have the photos to go by.

    Hope that helps.
