Are you meant to be given a copy of your rights in writing when you are arrested or detained? Thanks

The C72(S) comes under S8(2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 (Treatment of Persons in Custody in Garda Síochána Stations) Regulations 1987 and must be given by the person in charge of the station.

    It outlines the following:-

    Legal Advice
    Medical Treatment
    Telephone Calls and Personal Visits
    Searches
    Provision of Meals
The taking of Photographs, Fingerprints and other bodily samples

    And if they didn't?

Failing to do so does not affect the lawfulness of custody or the admissibility in evidence of any statements etc.

Thanks mate. It's worth mentioning to my solicitor though?

I tought this may have been a general query, but it is obviously in relation to a specific incident in which case I'll point out giving legal advice isn't permitted here. But what I will say is always tell a solicitor everything, they will decide what is or isn't worth mentioning.

Yeah, thanks for that. Just wondering too - Section 19 of Road Traffic Act, written statement from Gardai about your sample etc. Is there a time limit when that should be served / sent to a person or is it just included with your summons? Just wondering like, thanks
