At least people don't have to suffer through the heat in Doha again now. Shame for those who are missing out on their opportunity to race it now though.

The IAU doesn't do much organising themselves. Instead they award championship races to some place and then rely on the local organisers to do much of the work. They do inspect it and in at least one case they stepped in when things started to run sour but in general it's up to the local organisers to make sure everything is ok.

Sometimes that works out well.

Sometimes it doesn't.
