Hi all, thinking of upgrading from the Net1 lite package to Net1 Infinity. Can't find too many reviews online so just wondering what the average speed that people using Infinity are getting? Does VoIP work much better with it? It's crap with the Lite package and avg speed is approx 2mbs and is often affected by the weather. Thanks.

They arent on the FWALA siteviewer so not sure what tech it is off hand, but essentially its another Imagine LTE. Only advantage might be they dont have as much advertising so subscriptions may be lower.

They are using the Radwin Jet product in the 5GHz band. I've no idea what the service is like. They removed the option for visitor posts on their Facebook page so it is hard to get feedback.

Not a positive sign if they are denying commentary on their Facebook page?

I just think they don't deal with the public very well. This happened before the launch of the Infinity product. Their legacy wireless system was suffering badly with contention so that is where lots of the complaints came from. The new product could be fine but like all wireless systems it will depend on how many customers are on your sector.

In band with .11, not ideal.

To explain: They arent mapped as the frequency they use is a free for all. Your neighbors could pop up an access point, destroy your connection and Net1 could do nothing.

I don’t have any neighbors closer than 50m or so, would that make me safe?

Irony is, I live in Ballyshannon, will have eNet here soon also, but as my house in in the NBP, I’ll have two FTTH solutions in the house next noir, but nothing here, that’s why I’m looking at wireless for the next 4 to 5years I guess.

It’s a long time when you actually say it! It’s deffo going to be a haves and a have nots situation for a long time with the NBP.

Its not just neighbors that could impact you, but you're safer that way.

So no reply from these guys.

Certainly wouldn't inspire me to sign up with them if they won't reply to a sales enquiry.

No reply from enet either to an enquiry submitted on their Contact Me page, so they are equally uninspiring.

The commentary is generally only used by people, who want to rant publicly instead of trying to solve their issues with support. (My 2c). Most providers will disable that. Nothing to do with positive or negative. If people were reasonable, it wouldn't be the norm for most providers to disable the commentary. And no, I'm not affiliated nor a customer of Net1.

The Radwin Jet gear is actually extremely interference resistant and promises to deliver 50 Mbit/s (or with a per CPE license upgrade 100 Mbit/s) per customer with up to 40 customers per sector.

The gear applies microwave beam bending and proprietary transmission protocols to archive this.

Not many providers would have invested in the gear, because it's a quite expensive proposition. Same as Motorola Canopy.

Interference in 5 GHz in general shouldn't be a problem, because there are quite a lot of frequencies. 5.1-5.3 GHz is meant for indoor access points (and most vendors honors this). 5.5-5.7 GHz is meant for outdoor use and 5.8 GHz is a UK/Ireland specific ISM band.

So interference in 5 GHz generally only comes from other FWA providers. And in rural areas, to be honest, is a minimal problem.

The only ones that actually get problems are those operating in standard 802.11a/n/ac .... as they get booted out if Motorola Canopy, Tranzeo, Mikrotik NV2 (WCDMA) or the likes of Radwin Jet operate on the same band.

    /M

They haven’t replied to my emails to them where I’m enquiring about service in my area either.

There customers service isn't great I enquired about ftth availability in my area by email never got back to me then ring them they knew my mobile number said they ring me back never did.

That does not surprise me. I rang them about eight years ago enquiring about their service. Promised a call back, still waiting! It seems nothing has changed. Their attitude to prospective and current customers would not lead me to recommend them.

I'm not surprised they disabled visitor comments - I used to read their page from time to time back when visitors could post and some of the company replies were ridiculously unprofessional, quite funny from an outsider's point of view. It looked to me like it was tech support responding, rather than having a customer care team reply so it was often quite heated. You'd have staff openly discussing a complaining customer's poor payment history etc. I'd say someone higher up eventually caught wind of it and made some social media policy changes as a result.

Very true. Some of it was pathetic.
