New Job concerns - Outsourced

    Hi,

I recently started a new job as an IT Support Technician approximately 2 weeks ago.

We had a team meeting today and we are told that we no longer are required to do the basic tasks of setting up the user in AD, using SCCM, software installation, basically anything that can be done remotely has been outsourced to India.

The company I work for is a global company, they tested it in America and other parts of Europe and now it's hit the UK and Ireland.

If an end user now approaches me I first must ask if they have logged a ticket - even if I know I could fix the issue, there and then.

Basically, today I had one ticket in my stack and it was for an end user request for a mouse :(

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what your concern is. It's common enough in large organizations for consolidation of remote support activities. But they still need local support for people who have issues that need a physical presence.

All the support tickets are logged into a system, which the oursourced company will view he tickets first, contact the customer, try to resolve the issue etc.

My main concern is that I've started with a company that have outsourced their IT dept and basically have removed my administrative rights on the network.
I had a member of staff on Friday requested an application installed on his laptop and asked me to help him, but I couldn't as my credentials don't have the rights to do so.

The only physical issues I have - handing out cables, headsets, USB drives etc. I've only started the job (less than a month) and I actually feel trapped a I can't just leave because it wouldn't look too well on my CV.

Get out of there fast i wont matter on a CV. You can explain the move easily.

Basically you are in a job now where you can't grow you can expand your career path and it's incredibly menial and unfulfilling.

Get out move now i wouldn't even bother thinking it over. What i mean if go on the hunt for a new job not just drop this one until you do.

A lot of companies are going or gone this way . I'm an end user of such a service . Don't worry your services will be used eventually .. management or corporation will think it's great and saves money but I'm not seeing it Unless it's a reset of a password, I always request a ticket for local IT support and use local services as I've found that they are the only competent ones to my problems resolved.

Yes of course you can leave, why on earth not? It is very easy to explain your reasons. I would get that CV out there.
