I am going to a hen which is costing about €250 food/activity/travel/accommodation/drinks, for personal reasons I cant go to the wedding so I want to give the girl her card/present at the hen she is a friend but not mad close. I am single and not working I was going to put in €80 but is that a bit scabby? It's my first time going to a wedding single so don't know what is acceptable.

I'm getting married in June and I'd be delighted to receive that. It's the thought not the gift or amount.

If you are not going to the wedding it saves her a lot so €80 is more than generous.

Not scabby at all! I had my hen lately and it didn't cost anyone near 250e to go but if they couldn't make the wedding i wouldn't expect more on top of that. I'd say even fifty quid is loads.

Are you going to the wedding or not?

If not then I would have no expectation of anything at all from someone who is not coming to my wedding outside of a nice card.
