Getting old car smartened up, Dublin area

I drive a 00 car. I had planned to replace it this year but my mechanic said I'd be mad, as it's running really well and it probably better than a lot of new ones.

To be honest I was quite relieved as money's a bit tight at the moment. But it looks a right wreck from the outside and I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a good place in the Dublin 6/14 area that would tart it up a bit, and how much this is likely to cost?

Preferably a place that's open on Sats. or will collect the car and deliver it.

    Thanks

Without pics it's difficult to know what you need done and advise you thusly.

In general, if the outside is not nice - start with a proper wash and see how bad it really is.
Check with some local bodyshops for suggestions and prices.

Do you mean a respray and/or dents repaired or just a clean?

I think it probably needs a respray, plus a few small dents repaired.

If you could post a photo there's a lot of very knowledgeable folk here who could point you in the right direction if they could see the current condition.

Often when people think their car needs a respray they are misinformed and would be surprised what a date with a detailer (pro valeter - not the local car wash guys though) can do to get a car into tip top condition.

If you're talking about significant lacquer peel (i.e. bits of the top layer of the paint have peeled/broken off) then it probably needs a respray, but if it's like a red car that's gone pink then there may be some hope.

Car paint is not maintenance-free - if you want it to last you need to polish it then protect it with wax or sealant at least once a year or so. No point forking out for a respray if you're not willing to maintain it afterwards.
