    Hello folks,

Question for ye on cross compliance...

I take stubble for winter grazing. Whats the max stocking rate allowed under cross compliance rules for out wintering sheep? Is there a max? Or how does it work?

I don't want to get myself, or worse - the guy I am taking the ground from into any trouble.

    Thanks...

It's based on ground you have available rather than specific field I believe, or you'd never be allowed run them or turnips etc. I believe it's close to 3 ewes per acre not sure in LU

    Is this any help -
"Reduced storage capacity for cattle (except dairy cows), sheep, deer or goats. If your livestock are outwintered at any time during the prohibited spreading periods (the periods when you are not allowed to spread organic fertiliser), you may need less storage capacity. This rule applies to you if your sheep, deer or goats are out wintered during the full prohibited spreading period at a grassland stocking rate of not more than 130kgof nitrogen to the hectare (this is the equivalent to 10 lowland ewes to the hectare). This rule also applies to you if you have other livestock (excluding dairy cows, deer, goats and sheep) outwintered at a grassland stocking rate not exceeding 85kg of nitrogen to the hectare"
