End of fixed term lease

Our one year lease runs out the end of the month. We have notified the Letting agent of our intention to remain. We are perfect tenants, property immaculate, rent paid on time.

The letting agent said the landlord wants to weigh up his options and we haven't heard anything.

Can we ask for another one year fixed term lease for security? We have a feeling he might be considering selling.

you're automatically under part 4 now but if the LL wants to sell that's his/her right. If that's indeed what he wants he'd hardly give you another 1 year fixed but will keep you on Part 4 so he can actually terminate. Nothing stopping you from asking - if he says not You'll have a good idea where things are heading.

Thanks just didn't want to sound foolish asking for something if it wasn't;t a possibility.

Sure, will give it a try and as you say it'll give us an idea of where we stand.
