Just wondering how much dairy nuts should you be feeding dairy cows, currently yielding 31kgs? On grass by day and have access to silage by night. Currently getting 5kgs of 18% high energy dairy nut.

You need to find out the cal/mag rate in the nut and work from there. Mine are on 4kg of 16% nut

Probably about right given the silage at night, however can you pull the plug on this soon? You'd get away with cutting back to the likes of Whelans feed rate if just on grass (or even a 14%), obviously once the calmag OK.

    Hard to answer without knowing
    how much grass you have
    How much grazed to date
    Stocking rate

Going with 4kg of a 14% nut at grass . Have a good bit ahead but they seem to be cleaning out OK at that. Wet days or days they have to go back in I'll bump it up 2 kgs
