I received the Teagasc beef newsletter today on the back page is a research piece comparing high merit cows with low merit cows.(suckler) Going by the table on the bottom the high merit cows come out worse than the low starred cows or am I reading it wrong?

I don't think there is much difference between them. A few percent here or a day or two there. I'd say the high merit cows get their stars from their progeny data.
