Question about speedvan while overtaking

    Maybe a stupid question but just to reasure, so tonight i was driving on a main road 100kmph speed limit, the car infront of me was driving about 75-80kmph infront of me i decided to pass it safely on a straight part of the road i didnt go pass 100kmph while overtaking it but i did see a flash off the speedvan while passing it, while i was passing the car the van was right there, outside wexford youths soccer pitch in wexford

    They photo every car. Whether you're over or under the speed limit.

    Well... It's an infrared flash, some people can see a type of illumination, but yeah.. It's not a regular white visible camera flash.

    Word on the street is they can't fine you if there are two cars in the picture. SO you could be OK overtaking (which the OP was anyway as they weren't speeding

    Rubbish. They use laser and accurately pin point the offending car.

    They don't flash in any way. What people think is a flash is simply the lights of their own car or the car behind reflecting on the camera lens.

    The cameras record constantly all cars passing. When it's being played back a beep sounds where a car has been detected over the limit. The operators then cut that section for the ticket file.

    if you were not breaking the speed limit, then there is no issue.

    They don't flash in any way. What people think is a flash is simply the lights of their own car or the car behind reflecting on the camera lens.

    The vans use radar... not laser

    the Gardaí do indeed pinpoint the car, the gosafe system doesn't I'm told.

    I have no way of knowing the exact facts which is why I couched my post the way I did.
