I'll spare the details. Had an incident today and would like to pay without going through insurance.

    Damage:
    Some damage to drivers door.
    Heavy damage to wing panel.
Good damage to the drivers side of the bumper. (front is untouched).

Fairly sure the engine is fine apart from a leaking water bottle. (and it wasn't a high speed crash, probably 15km vs 30km in the same direction)
Also think the drivers side wheel wasn't damaged as it only hit it with the side/corner of my own bumper.

I've no experience with auto body repairs, but can someone maybe give me a ball park figure for repair to the sections mentioned above? Car is a 2006 Ford Focus.

    Thanks in advance.

How long is a piece of string is probably the best answer.

Without at least an image it's nigh on impossible to say.

That and the fact that the price (and quality of repair) will vary wildy by whether you bring it to Fred in the shed, a main dealer or somewhere in between the two

Depends really how far in the damage is and whether it's just the surface or if the engine bay needs to be reshaped. If the damage to the door extends to the bottom of the car or pillars that will also add considerable and if severe could damage the structure of the car beyond economical repair. Without pics hard to tell exactly.

There's plenty of 2006 Focus on Donedeal for around €1500-€2000 that might be a better option to replace it with than to put so much money in to a repair, have a look...

Is it your own car or someone else's car you are looking at paying to have repaired?

    Thanks for the feedback.

I was looking at that alright, might not be so easy to convince the other person to change their car.

Had some damage to our vauxhall astra recently...
New wing, headlight, bumper skin and some plastics for bumper (they are all sold seperatly). Was just under 800 sterling (northern irland). Local independant body shop.
Luckily no bonnet, inner wing, suspension, radiator or airbags damaged... as it could have been a lot worse!!

    That's for the reply.

Sounds similar, I just hope it cost around 1k. Could be wishful thinking though.

Even another scenario if the damage cost more than the car would be if I could buy the car off her for the value (2000ish), and sell it for breaking. 500 quid or what ever cars like that go for. Plenty of focuses around.

Most main dealers dont have their own body shops :)
As you know of course but many Joe Soaps don't.
